GLOBAL360X · Featured VR Project

Immersive VR Cycling Experience

Experience the Ride. Explore Sri Lanka. Through Virtual Reality.

Transforming real-world cycling journeys into immersive virtual experiences through 360° technology, featuring the historic Galle Fort and scenic Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya.

About the project

Bringing real-world cycling journeys into immersive Virtual Reality.

GLOBAL360X collaborated with the University of Moratuwa's UOB Lab, with the sponsorship of Dialog Axiata, to develop an immersive VR Cycling Experience featuring two distinctive destinations in Sri Lanka — the historic Galle Fort and the scenic Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya.

The project was designed to bring real-world cycling journeys into Virtual Reality, allowing audiences to experience the surroundings from a cyclist's perspective through immersive 360° video technology.

Rather than simply watching a conventional cycling video, viewers can look around and explore the environment, experiencing the journey from within the virtual environment.

Beyond traditional cycling videos

Turning outdoor journeys into immersive digital experiences.

Virtual Reality opens new possibilities for experiencing outdoor activities, destinations and real-world environments. Unlike conventional video formats, 360° VR allows viewers to explore their surroundings by changing their viewing direction, creating a greater sense of presence within the experience.

Galle Fort represents Sri Lanka's historical and architectural heritage, while Gregory Lake introduces the scenic beauty of the central highlands. Together, these experiences demonstrate how 360° technology can connect people with different environments through a single immersive platform.

This project represents another step in exploring the possibilities of VR for tourism, education, digital exploration and experiential media.
